About Northeastern Catholic District School Board
The Northeastern Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) is the product of the coming together of regions, of boards, of schools, and of people from Catholic Communities throughout Northeastern Ontario.
The Board serves communities within the Districts of Cochrane, Timiskaming, Nipissing, and Moosonee. Each region has its own roots, and in fact, had its own separate school board at one time, operating with both English and French language sections.

About the Opportunity
NCDSB currently has multiple opportunities for French Immersion Elementary School Teachers to join our team in various locations across Northeastern Ontario, starting on August 28, 2025. You can learn more about our different schools through this link.
The positions we currently have open are:
Elementary Classroom – French Immersion – Contract
- St. Jerome School, Kirkland Lake, ON – 1.0 Primary Classroom FI, Contract until further notice
- St. Jerome School, Kirkland Lake, ON – 1.0 Prep Relief FI, Contract until the end of the 2025-26 school year
Elementary Classroom – French Immersion – Permanent
- Aileen Wright English Catholic School, Cochrane, ON – 0.5 Prep Relief Core French
- Sacred Heart Catholic School, Kirkland Lake, ON – 1.0 Junior Division Classroom FI
About You
In order to qualify as a teacher, you must be registered with the Ontario College of Teachers, and able to teach in French. Alternatively, a valid Canadian Teaching Certificate, or being eligible to obtain one, and certification in French as a Second Language Part 1 are strong assets. The Board is also accepting applications from uncertified candidates who have experience working in a classroom setting or with youth (social work, childcare, day camps, or coaching).
To succeed as a teacher with us, you will have knowledge of and/or a desire and willingness to learn:
- Provincial curricula (appropriate to the level you wish to teach)
- Working with students with unique needs
- Providing students with a differentiated learning experience
You will also bring:
- Strong classroom management skills
- Commitment or openness to demonstrating the values of the Catholic faith
- Patience, kindness, and compassion for students at all levels
- The belief that all students can learn
- An understanding that each child may have different learning needs
- A desire to help students achieve success in all aspects of their lives
